For the Boys
For a while now we’ve been hearing about how our culture is affecting boys and young men. They’ve been the topic of several articles, podcast episodes, and books. Michael Lewis devoted a season of his podcast, Against the Rules, a year or so ago to the topic of online gambling, which disproportionately affects young men. Scott Galloway has written a new book, Notes on Being a Man, a memoir and non-fiction work about his insights into what men are experiencing in this century.
Now, we aren’t men, so we’re no experts; however, we do love the men and boys in our lives. We care about others and if any of the works of art or resources mentioned here have a positive impact on another, we’d be delighted. After all, regardless of what gender we’re talking about, we all benefit from being more informed and supporting each other. Being human is a full-time job!
At Figg Street Co., it’s no surprise that several of our customers are boys and men. We also interact with many others who have men in their lives: brothers, fathers, sons, husbands, partners, friends, uncles, co-workers, neighbours, etc.
In honour of the guys out there, we’ve put together a few items that we’ve found may be of particular interest to you or someone special in your life. Fountain pens, inks, notebooks for journaling and sketching supplies:
We wish the best to all our readers and customers this week – including all the men, boys, and those who raise, love, care about and support them. We all can be a positive influence on others, and when we do so, goodness has a trickle-down and domino effect!
