Gifts of the Father

When my siblings and I were clearing out my parents’ home, we worked together and had fun divvying up various things. When it came to the basement, specifically my dad’s work area, there seemed to magically be four of many handy gadgets. One for each of us (I have three siblings). To my surprise, my husband and I use many of the gadgets. Some are gardening tools that have become my favourites. I caught myself calling them "nifty" - a term my parents said a lot! I really love using these items and having them around me. I think of my dad choosing the tools and gadgets and using them. I feel a lovely connection to him.
