While the autumn season means tree leaves changing from green to shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and purple, it also means a little less light each day. This time between the fall equinox and winter solstice is one of increasing darkness. This creates a moody backdrop late in the afternoon and early in the evening for upcoming Halloween. It's fitting that one of the key colours associated with this holiday is black.
