It’s almost here…
Today’s the 23rd of December, so we’re almost there! Tomorrow is the last day to pop into Figg Street Co. to pick up a last minute gift and some wrapping supplies. We’ll be open from 10:00am to 3:00pm, then we’ll be off until 11:00am, January 7th in the new year.
How are you spending the next few days? Do you celebrate Christmas?
In my fantasy world (if I wasn’t at the shop), I would be making chocolate truffles and putting them in little boxes with ribbons to give away. I’d do the same with cookies. I love to spend time baking beautiful cookies and finding just the right decorative paper and cotton ribbon for giving them as gifts. Home baked goods, preserves, truffles, etc. are lovely ways to share the holidays with others.
My mom loved baking for the holidays. She’d make Talaluch, waffles and shortbread, among other treats. She loved to share with others and put her baked goods on pretty dishes for home entertaining. She had to hide them from me and my siblings because we’d eat them. Some of these cookies were extra special because they’d only be made at Christmastime.
My favourite memories of Christmas are being together with my extended family and eating, drinking, telling stories and enjoying Italian and jazz music. Since so much has changed, I reminisce and long for some of those traditions and the sound of so many voices conversing and singing. I suppose it’s the epitome of togetherness that’s so special about the holidays. What special memories have you been thinking of lately?
In the present moment, I’m spending a lot of time at the shop and doing last minute preparations for the holidays. There’s a buzz in the air at this time of year as customers cross off the final items on their shopping lists and put the finishing touches on their presents and decorations. It’s fun to help with this and provide a few tips and ideas.
If you still have a bit more shopping to do and are looking for ideas, here are a few items from Figg Street Co. to consider:
We hope this newsletter finds you well and happy for the days to come. If you celebrate Christmas or other festive holidays (or even if you don’t), we wish you days filled with love and many moments of peace and joy. We all deserve time to celebrate, to rest, to reflect, to participate, to enjoy, to sing, to dance, to share and to express our appreciation.
We’re grateful for your time, patronage and support. Thank you so much. We wish you well!
