Meet Kirsten of Steadman Jewellers!

July is Independent Retailer Month, a great time to celebrate and support our favourite independent shops! We thought we'd highlight one of ours on Front Street here in Thorold: Steadman Jewellers. It's owned by Kirsten and Ken Atmekjian, who're married to each other. Ken is also the goldsmith and gemologist for the business. 

I met Kirsten and Ken at Figg Street Co.'s grand opening 11 years ago. They're both enthusiastic community supporters, and we've become eachothers' customers. I've purchased some beautiful pieces from them, and they've also repaired jewellery for me. Ken is so talented. I've seen many of the gorgeous items he's created. One day, I'd like him to make a ring for me - I already know the design I'd like.

Neighbourhoods filled with independently owned businesses have a vibrancy to them that draw people near. A kind of lifestyle that feels pleasant and healthy in all aspects: creating such a place for others, immersing oneself in this environment, and supporting it.
