Bat around some ideas…
Halloween is this Friday and that means it’s time to get creative! This is a holiday for the imaginative and an opportunity to turn yourself into whatever character you like for an evening. Do you resonate with Heidi Klum and plan your costume and party weeks in advance? Maybe you channel Claire Dunphy and enjoy a theme and blanketing the entire home and garden with elaborate, spooky decorations. Maybe you want something low-key: just a touch of Halloween amongst your stationery and household items.
It's a great time to try out a new paper craft and brainstorm. Let down your hair and experiment with colours, patterns, inks and materials. We have a few ideas in the shop and in our Reverie section below.
Are paper crafts something you enjoying trying on your own or with others? We have examples of some simple kid-friendly crafts as well as intricate ones that may require a practiced hand. A few things to consider:
- Halloween paper lanterns
- Paper masks to wear as part of a costume
- Origami paper bookmarks & decorations
- Quilled paper pumpkins (use strips of coloured and patterned papers to make spiral components)
- Paper haunted house, black cat, bat or ghost wall decorations or mobile
- Paper witch or wizard’s hat
We hope this issue has inspired you to create something fun this Halloween – perhaps something moody and mysterious. Connect with your imagination and enjoy the opportunity to celebrate with others in the community. Happy Halloween!
