Is it just me, or do you also feel that superheroes are really having a moment in our culture? To me, it seems that dads are often the superheroes of our lives. They play such an important role and are, in some ways, protectors of our family tribes.

This Sunday is Father's Day. It's easy for me to become sentimental at this time of year, since my father is no longer here. I miss him. He was very passionate about music, mainly jazz, but he loved other genres, as well. My father had quite the collection of vinyl records and CDs.

I never realized how much of a note taker and letter writer he was until I went through his belongings. He listened to CBC radio and always jotted down notes on every subject. He also wrote a lot of letters to all kinds of businesses and government bodies asking for information or support on issues. He always wrote a draft copy first, even for greeting cards. It would have been nice to buy him a really good notebook where he could keep his thoughts in one place.

Have you recently learned anything new about your dad? Are you a dad? If so, is there anything new about fatherhood you've recently discovered?

Fathers are known to be notoriously tricky to find gifts for... nevertheless, we have a few ideas for you from Figg Street Co.

Are you celebrating Father's Day this year? If so, what do you have planned? Also, feel free to share any dad jokes you hear this weekend, no matter how groan-inducing!

Wishing you and yours a Happy Father's Day weekend!
