Stick With It

So, it’s mid-August now. We’ll say this softly, since it can stir up emotions in some people: we’re nearing back-to-school season. Yep, it’s upon us. 

Now, it is still August. Which means it’s still summer and there’s sunshine and time to relax and play. Some things naturally overlap the carefreeness of fun with the productivity of school and work. One of these things is stickers.

Stickers have a multitude of uses and range from spontaneous, decorative use to that of an organizational and productivity tool (and everything in between). We love the versatility of stickers. It makes using them an easy way to add joy, beauty and humour to the more serious and utilitarian areas of life. Why not lighten your load with a friendly smiley face, images from the natural world, and depictions of your pet?

Some ways we use stickers include:

• As calendar reminders: on special dates, including birthdays, important events, and deadlines.
• As envelope seals for greeting cards and letters.
• To fix an “oops”: if you’ve crossed out something in your notebook or accidentally made a smudge, cover it with a small sticker!
• To reward ourselves when we’ve achieved an objective.
• To finish off and decorate a gift-wrapped item.
• To create a mood board.
• To organize and categorize our journal by using them as borders and dividers on a page, or as a decorative frame.
• To personalize our laptop, charger, tablet, and phone.
• To differentiate between different cords by assigning each port and cable a unique sticker colour and/or motif.
• To add some personality to our water bottles, thermos and drinking glasses (at a party, it’s also an easy way to distinguish your glass from someone else’s).
• As seasonal decorations (e.g. snowflakes in winter, colourful leaves in autumn) on your windows, mirrors, or fridge to feel festive.
• As study and project aids (e.g. visual cues, create a legend to categorize by topic, etc.)
