The New Year is taking flight

The new year is upon us and taking flight. How is it for you so far? With each new season, there are new beginnings. The upcoming new film, H is for Hawk, inspired this issue. Amongst animals that I love, birds are my favourite. In fact, as this issue is being prepared, I’ve seen a Cooper's hawk land on the deck at my mother-in-law's home, where I’ve been visiting. What a treat it was to hear it call and see it up close and personal. 

At Figg Street Co., many of our items that feature birds are popular. Birds can represent so much of what we strive for and value in life – freedom, exploration, travel, ascending higher and soaring. Even in winter, when the leaves have fallen and it can feel quite still outdoors, we have many birds around. Owls, blue jays, and cardinals are just a few of the many birds we see.
