Unveiling a new ink collection at the shop!
We enjoy hearing from customers at Figg Street Co., and sometimes, these discussions lead to new treasures in the shop. Such it is for our latest Octopus collection, requested by you!
Welcome: the Barock 1920 fountain pen ink collection.
This collection from Octopus Fluids of Dresden, Germany, is named after a now defunct ink brand also from Dresden. To honour the legacy of Barock inks, Octopus intends to create collections that capture the spirit of each decade of the 20th century.
Barock 1920 has been unveiled as the second collection and opens the door to the glittering world of the Roaring Twenties – an age of artistic awakening and the refined elegance of Art Deco.
The 1920s evoke specific specific images and sounds. Jazz music, the art of Tamara de Lempicka and the creations of Erté, are just a few examples.
Literature from the age that’s retained its popularity today include the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. His most famous work, The Great Gatsby, continues to top best novels of all time lists and has been adapted into film. When the most recent movie remake starring Leo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire was released, several brands were inspired to create jazz age and art deco themed collections, such as Tiffany and Penguin books (they re-released Fitzgerald’s collection of books in assorted metallic colours paired with black or white).
Have you tried the Octopus Barock 1920 collection? Other Octopus inks? We hope you do enjoy the new inks, and we wish you a wonderful week of writing ahead!
