On The Ball

Have you been watching The World Cup? My family is glued to their televisions. I was happy to hear when Canada won! 

In May 2025, my husband and I were in Naples, Italy when they were hosting the Italian Series A soccer championship. When the home team won, the city overflowed with energy and excitement. You could literally feel it! People were wearing blue and white jerseys and blowing horns. Blue smoke hung in the air. Restaurants closed early for the game. If you couldn't get to the stadium, you could walk among the thousands who headed to a piazza to watch on the big screen television.

We slept very little that evening. Our hotel was very close to the piazza. The singing and the horns raged into the wee hours of the morning. I never want to hear horns like that again! The next day there was a parade, and the people descended into the streets and the hoopla started all over again. Soccer is a beloved sport, especially in Europe. The energy and love for the game and its players are remarkable.
